Converting Psion Files to PC formats
Using PsiWin v2.3, S5 files can be converted to other formats and the
accuracy of conversion is dependent on the common functions. (For example, the
S5 sheet SUMPRODUCT function is not supported in MS WORKS and only the cell
value is transferred). Embedded objects are never converted. So it is with
regret that I cannot supply the S5 Encyclopaedia (the equivalent of
"Excel" sheets embedded in an "Access" database) for the PC
platform. However to wet your appetite, here are a few PC offerings (in MS WORKS
& Excel formats).
- A multivariable linear regression sheet - for downloading

(12kB zip). Download, extract and load these files and add a chart of
residuals to complete your regression suite, thus:-
Experience the power of your regression sheet by curve
fitting equations of the type:-
y=A+B*x
y=A+b*ln(x)
ln(y)=A+B*x
y=A*x^B
y=A+B*x+C*x^2+D*x^3+E*x^4
ln(y)=A+B/x+C*ln(x)+D*x+E*x^2 etc.
The S5 suite of applications with its advanced object
embedding appears to outperform MS Works - and that is not bad for PDA
software! Now if only Psion would build on their strengths and patch their
weaknesses...
